3 minute read
Yes... you read correctly. Do not give up the lived experience of love, even when everything collapses around you, when the person you love no longer wishes to be with you, or when you yourself no longer believe that love exists.
God is Love...
All religions have said this, while saints, founders of religions, apostles, disciples and everyone who began upon the road of inner searching have demonstrated it and shown it to the whole world.
Let us begin at the beginning. We all dreamed in adolescence: boys dreamed of the girl for whom the knights of old would give their lives, and girls of Prince Charming upon a white horse. A moment comes when the dream is fulfilled, though not literally, and each of us tastes the nectar of love. Some live it more intensely, perhaps because they are sensitive by nature. Others live it less intensely because their nature is colder. Some may say they have never lived it or never will, but love is also present in weaker forms, or even in forms considered higher than the lived experience of love for a person of the opposite sex: love for parents, country, relatives, an object or nature.
You reach the height of living it and everything in your life changes. Colours become warmer, nature caresses and soothes the experience, and dreams take on divine colours. The fortunate live this until death, or perhaps it even becomes a path that frees the soul. Others gradually renounce it or no longer live love with the same intensity. Destiny quickly and cruelly strikes the least fortunate, bringing everything down as though it had been a sandcastle.
Here appears the mistake everyone makes: they renounce not only the person, the image, but also the lived experience of love, because naturally they have identified love with the person. I come to tell you that Love has an existence in itself. It merges with everything and allows itself to be manipulated by everyone and everything, because it exists in all and everything.
But I will say something more: do not renounce even the image, the person who gave you the experience of love. Thank them throughout your life for giving you the most beautiful gift in human existence. They gave you the path by which you can free yourself from suffering.
It seems a utopia, but until you live and practise it you will not discover what it means to be more than a mere mortal. You would then have no reason to suffer if love remained in its place regardless of what happened in your life, if you came to see beyond existence and recognised the source of the experience.
Taste love and do not renounce it. Do not change its taste through thought or withdrawal, because love is always sweet. We alone give it bitterness when we renounce the experience of living it.
Enough for today...
